We were
referred to Mosaic Tile from our selected Contractor and boy are we glad
we were. We were told by our contractor that we had a 9:00 am
appointment with designer Liza. Just as advertised the showroom opened
its doors promptly at 9:00 am.
We met Liza right off, but were informed that they don't conduct
one-on-one consultations on the weekend. So, there was clearly a
breakdown in communication somewhere along the line between the
contractor, Mosaic Tile and us. However, let that not dissuade you from
reading on as what happened afterward was really a positive experience.
Liza gave a tour of the showroom while she was getting a read on what it
is that we were looking to accomplish. She showed us the different
sections of the showroom and explained how items were organized. She
gave us carte blanche to pull things together and "set up shop" wherever
there was a flat surface. We were left to our own for a bit to get some
ideas together and before we knew it Liza was back to check in with us.
The showroom manager Jody also checked in with us from time to time.
With each subsequent check in from Liza we were able to quite easily
pull together some concrete plans for the tile selection and design.
Ok, so we didn't have one on one per se, but to be honest it still kind
of felt like we did. Liza was a consummate professional. She balanced
the time between patrons beautifully, she checked in with us frequently
and offered suggestions just as we needed them. She provided
consultation that took what could have been an overwhelming experience
and made it fun and productive. Liza provided an on the spot sketch
that helped us visualize our choices and wrote down our selections. She
provided her contact information for follow up questions and she was
genuine in her delivery.
The showroom is well lit with plenty of space to pull samples together
and compare selections side by side. There are spaces for viewing in
natural light, fluorescent light, or halogen light ... this was a nice
touch as the tiles really do look different in different light. The
other staff that we saw were all pleasant, smiling and offered
assistance regularly. Some of the selections are in close proximity to
each other and this makes for a tight squeeze when others are trying to
look over your shoulder or sneak in, but we just moved on and came back
to that section when the coast was clear. At least the options were
plentiful. So many times I have gone to the showroom and they have such
a limited selection.
So, Liza took our information ... she is sending a sketch to our
contractor with our choices of tile as well as her suggested design and
we'll go from there.
We walked in excited to move forward and we walked out excited knowing
that we made progress.

I found Mosaic Tile on Angie's List as a vendor for floor tiles and then before I had a chance to visit their showroom, a contractor recommended them to me as well. Their Rockville showroom has convenient hours, e.g. open early (7:30 a.m.) and stay open later (7 pm) so I was able to make an appointment to get suggestions for kitchen floor tiles before going to work.
I met with Hiva who was fantastic! The tiles are arranged in their showroom by color, unlike several other tile places we visited that had what seemed like a random arrangement (probably by brand). I brought in a sample door of a kitchen cabinet we recently bought and some pictures of "looks" my husband and I liked. Hiva and I spent time picking out a bunch of different samples and comparing them with the cabinet door and she provided a lot of advice and recommendations on what looked good (or not). Other salespeople at shops we visited were very neutral and weren't very helpful so I really appreciated Hiva's feedback, and she was fun to talk to and got me a lot more excited about my renovation project.
When we narrowed the options down to three different products, Hiva let me sign out samples so I could show them to my husband and use them to help pick out other materials. Hiva was also accessible via email when I had follow up questions. My husband and I returned to the showroom another time to pick out backsplash tiles and the other woman we spoke with was also very helpful in terms of advising us on subtle color differences. A third staff member was helping another couple and she seemed just as good. Hiva also helped us pick out an appropriate grout color and identified the appropriate threshold. She is very knowledgeable about all the products and really was a great resource. I placed the order for our floor tiles today (a Friday) and they will be available for pickup this coming Monday!
We plan to be back within the next month to purchase the backsplash tiles too. There are so many beautiful tiles here and the showroom has a lot of "mini" displays to give you ideas on how to use various styles/colors. I highly recommend Mosaic Tile. It's set back off Parklawn so even though I drove by there about once a month I never noticed it before.... but it was a great find!

I am a kitchen and bath designer for Stuart Kitchens in the Gunston showroom. I've been working with Janelle Parker at the Woodbridge design center for almost 4 years since our showroom opened. I wanted to write a quick note to give a thumbs up at the new layout that they have put together. When remodeling or building, there are so many selections to be made that consumers' get completely overwhelmed. It is our job as designers to make that process as pain free as possible. The best way to do this is to narrow down options prior to presentation vs. sending them diving into the millions of available choices and hoping for the best. When we get to the point of choosing tile, a color or feel is already established in our minds eye. Having the ability to now go into Mosaics' Design Center and go straight to the specific area representative of what we are looking for is not only more efficient, but is much less daunting for our clients. Kudos to the team at the design center that came up with that idea. It really works.

I just wanted to take a few minutes to tell you what a superb individual and great manager you have in Wes Peters.
My wife and I have been retiling a kitchen and several bathrooms. As usual, nothing goes according to plan and we have had to re-order things (our fault) and make numerous trips to Trade Road from our home, 35 minutes away. I even went on the morning of August 27, 2011 which was the day Hurricane Irene blew through…and Wes was there early and giving cheerful, personal customer service.
I manage a large organization with over 1,000 employees and Wes is the type of leader/manager I look for. He clearly knows what he is doing and he has that magnetic personality to make each customer feel special.

I wanted to commend Mosaic Tile on their excellent customer service.
I run a private art gallery out of my home in Bethesda. In November 2009, I was working closely with one of your competitors to remodel my kitchen which is used extensively for home & work functions. After spending thousands of dollars, tons of emails and calls, and being assured my tiles were in stock, the last of the tile I needed was suddenly gone. After waiting several months, I finally received a refund as the vendor chose to discontinue the line.
Left without a back splash (which the whole kitchen design centered on), I went to every tile store in the area. I walked into Mosaic and although I did not have an appointment, Hiva was able to quickly put her hands on the perfect tile for me. I have very vibrant green quartzite counters in my kitchen and she was the only designer in the metropolitan area who understood my vision.
This spring when I had to remodel two bathrooms, I knew Hiva and I would find tiles I would love at Mosaic.
Unfortunately, one of the tiles we ordered from Crossville did not match the sample. This is where Andrew stepped in. Although he was going on vacation, he was on top of this mistake and has worked diligently to rectify this problem.
I will continue to recommend Mosaic Tile. I am deeply appreciative of the professionalism and dedication of your staff.

I would like to send my compliments to Denise & Jason at your Chantilly Va. location. I visited your location around 6:30pm and even though they were close to closing and it was Denise's last day, she was willing to assist me with my selection. She made several suggestions, but once I showed her the foyer area and my wall color she suggested a tile from a manufacturer that was closing. The tile selection was a perfect match. I was able to get a better Porcelain tile opposed to a Ceramic one I had originally picked out for less money. Jason completed my order the next day, sent me my invoice via email and reviewed the sale with me over the phone and even made a last minute change per my request. I now realize that my husband and I were the original 'babes in the woods' when we went to Mosaic (recommended by our contractor) to see about a tile backsplash for our new kitchen. We were waited on by Janelle, and from there on in we had an adventure in tile picking! She showed us so many choices, tried to work with the look we wanted (traditional) and waited patiently through several visits while we made up (and changed) our minds. Plus that...she was fun to work with! We finally settled on some beautiful Italian mosaics, with travertine as a background. A truly unique look for our kitchen...thanks to Janelle! I'd like to compliment you on the exceptional service Denise Wencis offered my wife & me when we dropped by your Chantilly Design Center. We did not have an appointment, but dropped in early on a Saturday morning shortly after you opened. We were working with a builder who recommended Mosaic Tile, but we didn't have a design concept yet & we had not sat down with anyone to consider options. Denise took time first to listen to our vision; she asked questions, then walked us through a step-by-step process to consider different materials, size options, design arrangements, & comfort/budget. We left the same morning with a firm plan & received an email from Denise the next day -- on a Sunday -- with a full design plan, including a drawing of how she'd suggest laying out the tile we'd selected in each portion of our bath. We have a large Master Bath & expected this to be a tedious & time-consuming decision process. I stopped by your Chantilly location and met with Denise and she quickly developed a beautiful tile design using mosaic tiles and marble that is simply gorgeous. My husband and I are thrilled with our new bathroom and are very pleased that the floor is not slippery after a shower/bath as our prior tile had been. I worked very closely with Jenna for over a year. I even changed my mind once on which tile to order after I had put in an order. Jenna was extremely professional, helpful and patient. She made excellent suggestions about which tiles would work. Once I had decided on the tile, Jenna did periodically follow up with me to see if I was going to purchase the tile and always did so courteously and without pressure.

I was in the midst of a master bath remodel when I discovered 2 cartons of 18"x18" floor tile were wrong. Went back to the original store and of course they were completely sold out with no hope of getting more. Being discontinued I thought it would be a miracle to find the tile, but I did at Mosaic.
I worked with Erin and Heather and every time I emailed or called they were prompt, professional, courteous, and did what they said they were going to do.
I live in Texas so they shipped the tile to me, but the shipping was reasonable (we all know 18"x18" tile is crazy heavy!) and the shipment arrived when they said it would.
I wish there was a Mosaic store in Austin because they would be stop #1 for all my tile needs. Will not hesitate to recommend Mosaic to anyone.

Our experience with your company was so pleasant we felt compelled to compliment the excellent knowledge and service provided by Laura P. and your entire staff. We had a horrible experience with another Baltimore tile company involving an unprofessional showroom, delays on our order, eventually being told they could not even get our glass tile and, to add insult to injury, our deposit was returned and the check bounced.
Laura was friendly, extremely educated on glass tile, and willing to spend time with us and share ideas. Our tile came to the store in two weeks (we had waited 3 months to be told the other store could not even get the tile) and your staff was extremely polite and helpful in loading the tile for us.
Please express our appreciation to Laura and the staff at Owings Mills for a job well done. It was truly a pleasure doing business there and we have already referred friends and family.

I visited one of your competitors in Springfield, VA prior to going to your Lorton location. After speaking with representatives at both companies, I chose to do business with Mosaic Tile. Based on my satisfaction with Mosaic Tile, I felt it was necessary to comment on my experience and specifically one of your designers, Lorraine G. Ms. Lorraine did something that I found to be quite extraordinary. She actually listened to my confusing description of what I wanted to do and she came up with a very creative design that is absolutely gorgeous. Lorraine is very attentive to details, very professional and actually takes time to communicate with the customer. When asked, she made sure I had a choice of preferred contractors to meet with. The installation company I selected, FTB, Inc. was also top notch. I did not find this level of professionalism with your competitors. Thank you for providing great products, great people and exemplary customer service.

All this time off has allowed me to get the final touches on my bathroom plans ready to roll!! One of my most important parts is the tile - and I have chosen to go with the beloved Mosaic Tile (with Jenna who is AMAZING!!!!!) ... if you need to direct people to someone, Jenna is the way to go! She sat and designed and redesigned and worked on the designs over weekends - you know I'm a tough cookie so if she made me happy, she must be great :)
This brings me to my email to you - beyond telling you how wonderful Jenna is, Mosaic Tiles manager Andrew says that there is no record of Direct Buy Gaithersburg having an account with them - that their active account is with Lanham. Andrew has been wonderful and has said he will honor the prices from the Lanham contract, but that he is truly very interested in forming a lasting and standing contract with the Gaithersburg Center. Again, having shopped at the Tile Shop, I continually had to wait for sales people who were standing around chatting with each other and they were in NO way customer service oriented. With Mosaic Tile I would have between 2-5 people talk with me each time I was there - often just checking to make certain I was happy and being helped. They are TRULY wonderful and would be an asset to the Direct Buy Gaithersburg family of places we are sent to shop. So please let me know if there is someone other than you that I need to let know this so that the process can continue to be completed and have them added to our list!!

I had my second experience with one of your stores recently. From my first experience this spring, Ms. Janelle’s design abilities and her immediate grasp of what I wanted - contemporary without being sterile - made Mosaic in Lorton the ‘go to’ place.

We have never built a home before and usually the choices of all our bathrooms (5) and our laundry room, recreation room and office could be daunting and intimidating….however Kristen was so helpful and resourceful that we felt we had the entire showroom to choose from – yet she guided us toward the correct and astute choices for our particular tastes and needs….Kristen’s outstanding professionalism and her care for her customers and clients are a real tribute to your company’s ability to hire excellent people and train and maintain expert employees who serve their clients well. Her creativity was amazing – and she helped us feel that although we were in control; she was there to gently guide us through the myriad of choices! It is obvious that she enjoys her work – and believe me – she’s good at it!!!
I cannot tell you the number of people who have visited our home during the building process and been “wowed” by the tile in our bathrooms or on our floors! Even the guy who installs glass shower doors dropped his jaw when he saw our bathrooms – and HE sees hundreds of tile jobs a week he said! The combination of your quality tile product with our quality tile guy just makes for a stellar display of unbelievable impact! Our builder usually goes with a different tile guy who recommends Chesapeake Tile, your competitor, but I am lobbying them to make the wise switch over to Mosaic because with Kristen’s design capabilities and a good tile installer – it is a winning combination!
In these tough economic times, it will often be the quality of a company’s personnel that will make the difference – and your company – at least in Owings Mills, Maryland – will be fine!
We had a unique challenge in our basement bar/recreation room in that it was 2200 sq ft in a long uninterrupted line– and we wanted to avoid a boring, repetitive pattern which would promote a “bowling alley” look – NO PROBLEM FOR KRISTEN!!! – she steered us over to Turkish Travertine Kale – with a random pattern and color variation – IT’S FANTASTIC! So many neighbors, friends and even subs have commented on that “great Tuscany look” in our basement!!! We always plug Mosaic Tile because Bryan, the manager, has been good to help us keep our costs in line as well. In fact, all of your employees – Bryan, Kristen, Laura, Craig and Allan have always been helpful to us throughout our entire selection, pricing and supplying processes. It is wonderful when a company has one stellar employee – it is RARE when a company has so many! No matter when I called – first thing in the morning – or just before closing – someone was always helpful to me – and would step up and help out if Kristen was with a customer or unavailable. You have a quality team – and you should be proud!
In fact, we began to believe so much in Kristen – we asked her to design our fireplace hearths & surrounds because we were tired of seeing the same old tired granite alternatives out there everywhere! She chose a lovely designer tile that I know will make our home unique and the talk of our dinner party crowd!! We just cannot sing Kristen’s praises enough! I have encouraged her to come out to our home on a field trip and add our entire home to her portfolio of pictures of design jobs SUPERBLY DONE!! This young lady has TASTE!
You have a TEAM of wonderful employees whose first inclination is to serve the customer! We couldn’t be happier with our tile – our treatment by your employees – and the help from all concerned. We know we weren’t your biggest job – but your employees made us feel like we were! Their attention to detail and professionalism could not have been better! Truly, I just had to take a moment out of my busy day to say THANK YOU! And to let you know that in your Owings Mills, Maryland location – you have a stellar team of people working for you and with you to ensure that customers and clients leave Mosaic Tile Company happy and satisfied with your product and your employees’ treatment. Many a time we could have chosen a cheaper alternative – but the quality and professionalism of your employees underscored our feeling that your tile product was probably also more than just a “cut above” the competition! We will be letting our many friends, neighbors, relatives and community acquaintances know that Mosaic Tile is the Best Tile Company in Maryland!
