The process begins by choosing "extra choice" material which is then cut to size. Next, a resin based filler is applied where needed in order to maintain a smooth and consistent texture to the marble. The stone pieces are then honed, which means they are rubbed and softened to a matte finish. After that, the stone is processed three individual times to create an aged appearance, something slightly uneven, meant to mimic the look of old stone worn over time.
